Exploring the creation of a beautiful / next generation GUI

I really want to create an awesome desktop GUI application that looks like this:

  • Mac OS X Interface
  • Picasa Client Desk for Windows
  • IPhone Applications
  • Office 2007

I mainly programmed the GUI using Qt / Swing / WinForm

and I'm tired of creating such a simple GUI, lol.

So, I was thinking about diving into things like:

  • JQuery
  • WPF / C #
  • iPhone SDK
  • Silverlight
  • Adobe Air / Flex

Just to get some ideas on how to create a really cool user interface.

Does that sound like a good list? Any developers here could share which platform they use to create a very cool desktop application?
