Should I use ImageMagick or GD2 with ImageAPI in Drupal? What are the pros and cons?

Imagemagick

  • faster
  • can handle many other formats.
  • imagick library works outside the limits of PHP memory (as far as I know - please correct me if I am wrong)
  • can at least get something from the CMYK file (although the result often looks like someone was looking for the original image, processing the color profile is terrible)
  • no problem with resizing transparent GIF files, which was a problem in some versions of GD
  • TrueType - FreeType, .
