Is there a good alternative to xml documentation comments for C #?

I find the comments of an XML document for C # or VB.NET very difficult to read. Is there a decent alternative (which still provides the benefits of documenting code for intellisense, generating docs, etc.)?

If readability is the problem you are trying to solve (i.e. reading XML makes your eyes swing, what it does), you can add a stylesheet to the xml comment file. I started with the link provided in this old post and modified from there. You will have to add it back every time you create, but when you document your changes for later reference (that is, you do not use documents in the process of active development), this is not so bad.

I also use GhostDoc to make the documentation a little less time consuming.
