Team Foundation Server + Visual Studio 2008 Pro. Useful combination?

Consider a usage example:

  • Team Foundation Server (workgroup release?)
  • Visual studio 2008
  • 10-15 developers
  • ~ 10 SQL Server developers and administrators (data warehouses / reports)

Needs:

  • replace Visual SourceSafe as a defacto version control system
  • continue to use VS2008 Pro
  • allow SQL-oriented users to use the TFS version control system without additional licensing
  • continue using FogBugz

Questions

  • Do you think Team Foundation Server is a viable solution to the above scenario?
  • What tools (free / integrated) would you recommend to different users?
  • Are there licenses for each user in the TFS version control system?
