Migrating to Eclipse from Visual Studio

I'm interested in your thoughts on moving to a new IDE (in particular, Eclipse). I have heard wonderful things from this community from this, and I am always looking for new things.

I am currently running Visual Studio 2005 with a set of loaded external commands (to compile to binary, run a string, etc.). We are developing C code for microcontrollers.

I read some other topics about the advantages and disadvantages of Eclipse and Visual Studio (in particular, SO is the best IDE stream and SO is the best C IDE stream ), but I would like to hear your thoughts on using it to program the embedded environment. I would suggest that there is an easy way to use the external tools that Visual Studio currently uses (it just calls the various batch files that we created).

Should I specifically switch to Eclipse?
