Eclipse (3.5) how to compare files horizontally?

Typically, Eclipse 'File Compare' compares files in vertical panels, for example:

Compare using Vertical Panel

Is there a way to compare them horizontally, for example:

Compare using the horizontal bar http://www.sqlservertool.com/images/ad_hex_diff_small.gif

It is too tedious to scroll through it every time to see what has been changed!

thanks

Looking at the code org.eclipse.comparator.internal.CompareEditor(which is the name of the editor class illustrated in your question), I don’t see any indication of another “orientation” (horizontal layout and vertical layout).

One way to overcome your problem is to use the editor window Maximizewhile comparing files, and then Restoreafter doing the comparison. I want Eclipse to do this by default.

Regarding the issue of orientation. I think this is more readable when you compare versions side by side. This is probably why the authors of Eclipse did not provide us with the possibility of horizontal layout. What they could give us was line diff at the current cursor position.
