Is there a good analogy explaining why website usage for non-standard IE tags will decline in subsequent years?

I am trying to explain to a non-technical person why some websites (usually those whose user base exists exclusively in countries where Microsoft owns more than 99% of the market share) do not load in Safari or even Firefox (especially on Mac computers). Such users generally wonder why someone would even consider buying a Mac when they don’t even download websites that might be on their PC. These websites are what they frequently visit, and the fact that it does not load is directly considered a mistake of the system in question (Mac). They, as a rule, do not know the concept of several web browsers and obviously do not know about browser standards, etc.

Does anyone have a good analogy to explain why everything is as it is today. And why can they change in the future? Perhaps some other example of the real world, where one does not adhere to the clearly defined standard, has become the norm for society, until they finally realize the loss and achieve full compliance with the industry. This should not be a concrete example of technology.
