How do you handle streaming video in Flash AS3?

Question

I work with socket servers in Java, and now I'm ready to get my feet wet with the idea I had.

I would like to use python for my socket server and obviously AS3 for my client. I can create a full chat using my own python socket server, but I hardly know what to do now when I want to add video to LIVE (I want to make this chat live).

I found tutorials, but they are for FMS, and I can’t afford it, Red5 also looked good, but couldn’t find the video live (plus I would have to switch to Red5 from my own socket server).

So, if someone can even push me to some resources on this subject (the topic of live video without using FMS), which will be very useful, Google is not working right now.
