Spatial data types in MS SQL 2008 and Subsonic 3 - workaround?

Using the latest version of Subsonic (3.0.3), it doesn't seem to me that the data types of geometry or geography are implemented as of October 2009.

My questions:

  • if and when can this support be added?
  • Does anyone have a workaround to support operations with simple types of geography at the DAL level?

All that I really care about at this stage is storing lat / long data and executing queries on coordinate collections (i.e. find all points within a radius of 1000 km from point X).

It would be easy enough to implement this functionality in my own code, I suppose, but it would be neat to support all of this through DAL.

Suggestions?

Subsonic is not tied to SQL Server, so I don’t think this is what has ever been added. This is similar to what you can create your own extensions for.
