Xcode & Interface Builder is no longer in sync

It seems to me that from the time of the last update to the latest Xcode, some behavior has changed.

What it should be: Whenever I did Build and Run, Xcode asked me to save the changes to open and changed documents in Interface Builder that belong to this project.

Now: No questions, open IB documents are saved, and a new assembly is performed without changes to IB.

In IB, the status light at the bottom of the XIB window is green, indicating at least synchronization in the other direction.

I assume this is all a simple preference setting, but you all know that preferences in Xcode are as clear as Microsoft Word.
