I am looking for resources to create an interactive charting component in Adobe Flash without using Flex (or, with minimal use). That is, starting from scratch with Flash and ActionScript 3.0.
Is there a recommended reading? Perhaps a good recent book on this subject or a detailed blog article or an open source project? I'm interested in the development process and specific design patterns (for example, extending Sprite as a logical base class for your component).
