Before you start reading, here's the question, however, I'm afraid he lacks details ...
My situation is very simple, I work on a website that has been translated into several languages. We have options for a website tailored to customer needs, and they choose the languages ββthat are best for the target audience.
However, we have a problem with the translation process. The problem is not in versioning (we are still programmers) or in the layout of the database, I am really talking about translation management, cost and errors.
I think we have identified 3 steps in this process.
1. Preparation of documents to be sent
As a rule, you want this to be automatic. It is a pain to waste human resources on this current task.
2. Embodiment
Actually itβs not so easy to translate, there are various (and open) problems: lack of context, for example, because natural languages ββcan be ambiguous, and the use of synonyms does not help (especially since we are obliged to give English as a base language, and we are a french team, so we cannot use idioms)
3. Integration / Feedback
A typical problem is one word (used for a button) translated into a whole sentence, and my layout is inferior ... we ask translators not to increase the length by more than 25%, but sometimes even this can break the whole hell and sometimes it really limits them when there is space.
