What is a proxy class

Is the web service link the proxy class itself? Or are these classes created inside that you see in the object explorer when viewing a link to a web service?

For example, I created this link in a web service

I assume that ServiceAuthResponse is one proxy class inside my web service link?

When you add a WebService link, a proxy class is created for you.

public class MyProxy : ClientBase<IServiceContract>, IServiceContract
