Is it possible to transfer orders from a system in ECC 6.0 to an SAP R3 system in 46C?

It doesn’t sound logical, but I think there are many cases where the production system is at 46C and (for budgetary constraints) the corresponding test system was recently upgraded to ECC 6.0 before doing the same in the production process.

If this is not possible, is this the best solution for this scenario?

It is technically possible to transport between 46C and ECC6, but change freeze is recommended.

The main reason for this is because your test landscape is significantly different from your productive system. It will be very difficult to fully perform regression / integration.
