Using the WF rules engine without a workflow in the manufacturing process - implementation experience

I am developing an application for a case management system that has a large requirement for custom flexible business rules. I plan to use the WF Rules Engine without a workflow (see here , among other examples, etc.).

One of the points that my client raised (justifiably so!) Is whether there are existing examples of using a rule engine for a business rule engine without a workflow.

My question, of course: Has anyone used the WF Rules mechanism without a workflow in a production application, and what were your impressions?

The WF3 rule engine is still available in .NET 4.

Examples are available showing how to use the WF3 rule engine with WF4, as well as a migration guide that applies to rules.

However, according to this , the new rule engine seems very similar - maybe I'm wrong.
