JavaScript image popup

Question

I would like to configure my web page in the gallery so that when a user clicks on a thumbnail, a window appears with an enlarged view of the image. I do not mean a pop-up window, as in a browser window, but a window that loads on the same page and can be closed. I'm not quite sure how I will do this. Any ideas?

I believe the technique you use is lightbox (I think this was the first one).

Thickbox - it's a terrific clown on the basis of jQuery, or about the millions of other users : -)
