How to send CBN_SELCHANGE message when using CB_SETCURSEL?

Question

When using the CB_SETCURSEL message, the CBN_SELCHANGE message is not sent.

How do I notify a control that a selection has been changed?

I found on Sexchange , a very ugly hack:

You should not use CBN_SELCHANGE unless the user has made changes to the selection.
