Apache Forrest as a solution for documenting code

Recently, I saw Apache Forrest as a documentation documentation solution. On the Apache website

"Apache Forrest ™ software is a publishing environment that converts input from multiple sources into a unified view in one or more outputs. Apache Forrest's modular and extensible plug-in architecture is based on Apache Cocoon and industry-standard standards that separate presentation from content. Forrest can generate static documents or be used as a dynamic server or automated object. "

I was wondering if Apache Forrest can be used to organize and publish documentation for some java code, which is complemented by JavaDoc comments. I know that JavaDoc can do this on its own, but it seems to me that Apache Forrest offers an extra tweak. I found instructions on the Apache website on how to enable it in Maven, but it seems to be configured on Maven 1.x, and I'm using Maven 2. Is this possible? And if so, what is the best way to integrate this?

Thanks in advance.
