Sql Server Configuration Advisor Report

I created a days trace file (~ 10 hours) on the client and ran it in the SQL Server Configuration Advisor.

The configuration consultant worked on the weekend, and the report says:

Time taken to configure: 2 days, 13 hours, 58 minutes
Number of events in the workload: 1762519
Number of configured events: 67525
Number of configured claims: 37258

I also summarized the “frequency” column in the tuning log before missed events 141236

Does this mean that the adviser viewed only 12% (141236 + 67525) / 1762519 workload files in 62 hours?

those. is a recommendation based only on the first hour of workload?

Is there a way to speed up the analysis or do I need to run it within a month?

No, DTA processed your entire workload file.

You need to determine why the DTA missed 141236 events. This may be due to several reasons, such as links to queries of very small tables, i.e. less than 10 pages of data, or because query query tables were not selected for configuration.

I suggest you look at your settings log and cross-references with the following Microsoft documentation to determine why you were skipped.

Troubleshooting Database Engine Tuning Advisor

In particular, you will want to read:

  • Why events are not configured.
  • Errors and Messages
