What is the best way to handle spammers sending unwanted POST data?

In my Ruby on Rails block app, there are a lot of comments for a single blog post, even if the comments are closed and the comment form no longer exists. Comments are filtered by Akismet, so they are not visible, but I'm not sure how my application should respond best to these requests.

I thought of simply redirecting to a message page or an HTTP 404 or maybe 422 response. What do you think is the best way?
