Is there a way to make flash data in asp.net mvc?

for more information on what I mean here, a quote is given from the php mvc CodeIgniter infrastructure user guide

CodeIgniter supports flashdata or session data, which will be available only for the next server request, and then automatically cleared. They can be very useful and are usually used for informational or status messages (for example: “record 2 deleted”).
