VS2008 on Win7 64-bit: debugging a Windows service

I am trying to debug a windows service using VS2008 on 64-bit Win7. The problem I'm facing is that none of my breakpoints hit, regardless of which build configuration I choose: x86, x64, or AnyCPU.

Using "Attach to Process" after starting the service, none of the breakpoints will suffer, but the IDE does not tell me that they will not be deleted (for example, by creating a solid red circle and path) - it just seems that the breakpoints are not even there.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

thanks

/ Richard.
