So, I wrote a small little iphone application that uses the http url and plays the .mp4 video located at that url. Of course, it is more than that, but it is meat. Naturally, I wanted to use it not only for one mobile platform, so I decided to target BlackBerry.
However, I have a lot of problems with the BlackBerry Environment. First of all, I find out that I can only upload 256 thousand files! I will learn how to set this variable in my MDS simulator, and I will find out that this is NOT a production solution because for all end users their BES or MDS administrator will change the setting. Then I find a video of less than 2 MB that I can practice with. Going to the browser will tell me to save the video, and not play in the browser, as I expected. After saving the video, he refuses to play, saying that this is the wrong format.
So. I cannot find a link to whether BlackBerry can broadcast HTTP. I heard that he can use RTSP, and I heard some rumors that he cannot use HTTP, which really sucked. I also can’t find a link to the BlackBerry format, although I can find a million programs that convert a single file to the BlackBerry format.
Of course, someone should have tried to transfer the video from the BlackBerry before. How did they do it? Is this just a hopeless pipeline? Should I go with RTSP?
Sorry for the lack of a specific question. I'm just really lost and I hate how many tutorials or forum posts seem to suggest that I know the capabilities of Blackberry.
