LAN access on Android without Wi-Fi

I am working on a web application at work and want to access my development computer from my HTC Hero device. Linux is preferred, but I have access to windows and Mac computers. The emulator can be debugged locally and helps a lot, but it is not good enough for debugging real sensory events.

Ad-hoc wifi will violate our strict network policy. No matter how hard the restrictions are on the key or MAC address.

Has anyone found a way to access the local network via USB or Bluetooth? Bluetooth may be on the verge of our rules, but I will take it as a decision, if possible.

I'm not looking for a binding, but vice versa.

I think you can use adb pppin combination with ncto customize what you need. This guy uses his internet connection with a laptop via USB on his phone.
