In Visual Studio, how do I rebuild a complete solution, including all configurations?
If I select "Rebuild solution", it always restores ONLY Debug or ONLY Release, but never will.
Use the batch build option ... right click on the solution to see it.
Here is a screenshot (VS2010, but I believe this is the same for VS2008)

In Visual Studio 2005, I found that in Build-> Configuration Manager, I did not have the assembly verified for the project.
