The GPL allows you to sell copies of your application, but you must provide access to the source code, and anyone who has purchased a copy can provide the software for free. Depending on your business, this may not be a problem. IMHO the "closed source" for commercial projects is overrated, there are several examples of companies that do well with open source projects.
Another point is how you incorporate GPL software into your project. If you do not refer to the software directly, you also do not need to make your own GPL software (at least this is my understanding, you will need to check it correctly as soon as you know how to use the GPL software).
