How should parent dates of birth be handled?

Question

"A centenarian is a person who has reached the age of 100 years or more." - Wikipedia

There are several ways to offer the user a date of birth , but suppose we choose a method .

How would you handle the oldest selectable date? Do you choose an arbitrary year (for example, 1875) and fill it out?

Or do you consult some resource for a record age ( Jeanne Calment, age 122 ), add a couple of years and fill back?
