is there some kind of elegant way, ideally with a jquery plugin like pager 1 or pager 2 how to implement paging with asp.net mvc? I'm trying to figure out partial views, but so far unacceptable. Where should I store the downloaded grid data? And how to respond to page selection with a partial refresh?
Thanks in advance.
Try the article , it looks pretty convenient - it uses its own HTML extension method. Also check out this SO question .

You would not save the downloaded data. MVC allows you to keep the status idle, so to return to the controller on the next page you must specify the requested page number. Then you just return the required rows. You can also use AJAX for this.
