Are there Java LZO tests against Deflate against Gzip?

The (very outdated) page for LZO contains a link to a Java implementation. There is also the vague promise of "New ... Java ... interfaces ... sometime in the near future," but I believe that it has been around for several years.

This makes me think that the old Java LZO implementation may have been slow. Are there benchmarks that measure performance as well as their relative characteristics for other compressors (e.g., descent)?

I ported the latest version of minilzo.c in java. The initial version is at http://code.google.com/p/java-compress/ . Soon I will add Java tests for my port.

There is a relatively new project: https://github.com/ning/jvm-compressor-benchmark which compares deflation, and although LZO is not enabled, adding a driver for it should be easy.
