Mutliplatform development using C #

Possible duplicate:
Is Mono ready for prime time?

I have a few questions that are related to each other.

  • What strategy do you use to create C # applications running on Windows, Linux, and Mac? I know mono is probably the right tool, but what is your workflow? Do you develop in Visual Studio and then try to transfer the result to mono for Linux and Mac, or do you work directly with mono?
  • If I create a mono application and I do not use GTK # or Cocoa #, will it compile under VS and work with the .NET platform?
  • Is Mono stable enough to build commercial applications for B2B and B2C?

Is Mono ready for prime time? The link provided by @Mehirdad answers your question.

I find VS much better than MonoDevelop or others. I am sure they will almost catch up with one day. If you stick to System, cross-platform builds, you'll be pretty good, and then porting is really not necessary if you don't mean testing, since binaries just work.

I have a server application written in C # that runs on 64-bit Linux servers. I am doing development in VS2008 and loading .exe without changes. However, to experience compatibility issues. Fast and stable.
