Minimum Linux scatter with support for SDL and NO XWindows?

I want to install x86 Linux Box so that:

  • It uses minimal system resources.
  • Runs SDL, without XWindows
  • Enables sufficient functionality to run QEmu.

Basically, I just want it to be the virtualization host ONLY and be as thin as possible , leaving almost all the resources available for the client or OS.

Is there anything similar for x86 and is there an easy way to run SDL without X-Windows.

EDIT:

Oh yes, thanks for the Sleske info! The framebuffer comment pointed me in the right direction! For someone else interested, http://www.linux-fbdev.org looks very promising! I just need to figure out how to configure SDL to access FB now.

Are you sure this is a good idea?

It is not at all clear that SDL uses significantly less resources than X-windows. Why do you believe that? Also note that X windows are much more commonly used for general software than SDL, so you are setting yourself up for all kinds of problems. I believe that you should reconsider your assumptions.

, Debian . , , QEmu.
