Why is it called a heap (like where we put objects)?

Why is a heap called a heap? I mean a memory bit, which we dynamically allocate bits.

I don’t have a quote for this, but I always thought that it comes from "the place where you can put the material, it looks a bit like the stack is less organized."

There are strict rules on the stack about where you add and remove things, but the heap doesn't work.
