Undefined flushInterval in iBATIS

Does anyone know what iSCTIS cacheModel behaves when flushInterval is missing, say if the cache type is MEMORY? I hope that it just leaves the cached results in memory indefinitely. I have a set of results that will never change without rebooting the server, and I hope only to request them once during the entire life of the application. I thought that if I left the flushInterval element on the cache map, this would work ... but I cannot find anything in the documentation to confirm this.
