Is there a HOSTS file on Symbian Series 60 5th Edition devices?

On S60 3rd edition devices, the HOSTS file was used (see here ). This was a great opportunity for QA.

Does anyone know if there is such a file on S60 5th edition devices?

Is there any other way to tell the phone to go to a specific IP address given the host name?

Ok ... I think the HOSTS file is not an option ... in case anyone has encountered a similar problem, here is the solution I encountered to solve this problem :)

I use Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, and my QA server runs on a Mac.

  • - Mac ( Squid)
  • WLAN -
  • "hostname.local" Mac ( HOSTS )
  • QA- hostname.local . Wi-Fi-.
