MDNS subdomains with Avahi

I have an avahi-daemon machine running on Ubuntu Jaunty. It is currently responding to queries for itself on hostname.local, but I would like it to run webapp, which ends up publishing MDNS addresses for other hosts that are not on the local network. I would like them to be in the .local subdomain, if possible.

Right now, if I edit the file / etc / avahi / hosts and put it in the address → host mapping, it only works if there is no subdomain component. In other words, the FQDN of foo.bar.local will not be resolved from other hosts, but bar.local will. Is this a limitation of MDNS clients or server? And can this be fixed?

This is a limitation on the static functions of the Avahi daemon host. You need to use another method that supports registering more than one tag, for example this Python script .
