Want to join an open source project, but would like the suggestions to match my specific skill set

I understand that this may be a duplicate question, but this question is very specific to my skill set.

I want to join an open source project. I am a professional software developer and graduate student (Master of Science in Software Engineering) and professional (in my day job), I work with ASP.NET, ASP / VBScript and SQL Server.

I recently completed my first course, and the course introduced me to MinGW , Cygwin, and GCC . This has opened my eyes to the power and grandeur of open source software. I always respected Firefox and Subversion - big names, but that gave me more insight.

I want to join a project in which I can be productive, but still can study. I would like the project to be at an early stage of development, but showing a promise (if it does not work or is terminated, I will find a new one). I would prefer the project to be in the Linux community, but expect it to work on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.

Below are the technologies I am familiar with.

  • .NET 2.0, 1.1
  • SQL Server
  • Sqlite
  • Cocoa
  • Cocoa Click
  • MySQL
  • Mercurial
  • Subversion
  • Cygwin
  • Mingw
  • Gcc / gdb

  • Visual Studio 2005/2008
  • NetBeans
  • Xcode
  • :-)

  • #
  • VB.NET
  • ++ ()
  • Objective-C ()
  • C ()
  • JavaScript
  • HTML/XML/ ..

If you are interested in C # and .NET, you should contribute to Mono .;)

I would recommend considering contributing to a project where you are outside your skill set. You get twofold benefits from participating in an open source project, as well as for learning new skills.
