How to turn on the microphone?

How can I turn on the microphone and open some kind of live stream to listen to what is happening on my PC elsewhere? This will be a baby monitor project.

Any ideas on how I should do this? I really only after the code to complete the task. I can do the rest. I am learning Delphi, so I have to be fine.

I would also need to stop the microphone. At this stage, I do not want to talk, I just listen in real time or as close as possible.

Most of the integration I did with the Windows environment through Delphi was through the COM / ActiveX object. Find CoCreateInstance calls , and then try to find an ActiveX control that takes care of the microphone for you.
