Receive SMS on port 0 of the mobile

I am setting up a J2ME application to receive an event from the push registry when receiving SMS. Can I access an SMS message before it reaches the inbox? I read that messages sent to port0 of the mobile go directly to their own mailbox, and we cannot access it. Is there a way to distract or even sniff these messages in order to perform an operation on them from the J2ME application.

According to this discussion, it is not possible to receive an SMS message on port 0 using a MIDlet before it enters the Inbox. And although I am not familiar with the Wireless Messaging API, various other messages seem to indicate that you cannot access the mailbox (maybe I'm wrong).
