What do you consider the current benchmark for ASP.Net skills?

I have a friend who works at work, who does not have a planned upgrade plan when exiting VS2005 and Sql Server 2000. He is concerned that his skills may be lagging behind, although he attends user group meetings and tries to cover various topics in his personal time. After talking with him, I was interested in the fact that people might think that the "current" benchmark for skills that a developer should have in the field to some extent.

My thoughts:

  • .Net 3.5 (Linq, Linq-to-sql, EF, Lambdas, etc.).
  • ASP.Net MVC
  • Agile practices
  • Test Driven Development, or at least just the ability to do unit tests and taunt.
  • SOLID Principles.
  • jQuery (or similar structure)
  • CSS
  • Web standards for cross browser.
  • SSIS
