SQL replication setup - almost there

I am trying to set up replication between two SQL servers, and I am almost there, but stuck with a permission error (it appears). Servers connect via VPN.

Publisher / Distributor = W2003 + SQL2005 (Domain Controller)

Subscriber = W2008 + SQL2008 (stand on the server not in the domain)

I set it to Pull, and did not click only because the way I walked past the problems with the inputs.

The current state is that both agents are running and the snapshot is complete, but it does not start replication. There is an error below indicating that the subscriber does not have permissions on the snapshot folder, but I installed Everyone (full control) to try and get it to work.

I think there is some kind of problem with trust or something else. I can open the snapshot share in the publisher from the subscriber and access the files without any permissions. But SQL seems to have some kind of problem.

Any thoughts on the next steps here to trouble shoot? Thanks.

This is the end of the log:

What is your setting in the properties of the subscriber's subscription for security → Connect to distribution and publisher?

In addition, in the section "Publication Properties" → "Publications Access List"; Have you double checked that your subscriber is there?
