Included LaTeX metrics are not displayed in dvi, but in pdf format

Question

I am trying to get LaTeX to include numbers, but eps files will not display in DVI. I tried different packages to no avail. The numbers will display perfectly if I compile the PDF, but not into a DVI file ...

I use MikTex and LEd on Windows.

This is likely due to the limitations of your DVI viewer. The DVI file itself does not contain EPS files: just a link to these files. When DVI is converted to postscript (and from there to PDF or directly to PDF), EPS files are included. Some dvi viewing services included EPS files, others did not.
