I want to know if there is any free tool for checking smb / CIFS share performance. All the free speed tests that I saw were intended only for local drives.

Of course, this is called iPerf, and it works very well. Only the version of Windows on NT shared resources is used, but there is also a version of Linux, and you can test the speed between installed on the client (Windows) and another installed on Linux (server)
