Using chrome for web development - how to attach an inspector?

I know that Firebug is the standard, but I often use Chrome (screen space, speed, etc.). In any case, I think their inspector is not bad either. Of course, it's good enough that I do not want to run FF and navigate the site every time I want to pick a peak in the DOM.

However, perhaps the most annoying part is that I can't attach the Chrome inspector to the bottom of Chrome. I see that there is a dock button, but it does nothing.

Any tips? offers? Is something supposed to be done? Thanks.
