Sharepoint search does not work

Question

Platform: MOSS 2007 on server 2008

Sharepoint works, etc.

Problem: when you look for something, it does not find anything, no errors.

Authentication and permissions look great. Search service is running.

What could be the problem? Any breakpoints that I might have missed, any bad configurations that I have to check, etc. ??
