What is Task Scan in NetBeans and how to disable it?

Sometimes when you open projects, NetBeans displays a progress bar for the "Scan task" in the status bar. What exactly is scanning? Is it possible to disable it, as I noticed that sometimes it takes some time, and maybe it’s just my installation, but sometimes I have to force it to stop when NetBeans closes.

This is the Task List plugin. He does this:

Provides a Task List window that lists objects of interest to your project, such as strings containing "TODO", "XXX", "PENDING", Java compilation errors, etc. You can click an entry in the list to go to the appropriate place in your code.

, "" > "", "", " " "". ( NetBeans 6.5, ).
