IPhone short animation: video or image sequence?

I read several posts on both questions, but so far have not seen anyone who would compare.

Suppose I just want a full-screen animation without transparency, etc., in just a couple of seconds, the animation (1``-2 '') when the application starts. Does anyone know how the “video” compares with the “image sequence” (320x480 @ 30) on the iPhone, regarding performance, etc.
