SAP Business Objects

I suggested that my employer work on SAP Business Objects to analyze the large amount of data that they have.

I have the following doubts before I can accept this:

a. I love programming and do not want to lose touch with him. Do you think that working on this tool will excite a person who likes to build software? Or does it look like most of a tool customizable with a wizard such as an interface?

b. Is this tool capable of working with data collected for research and testing?

I tried a Google search, but all I could get was a few videos that mention “Business Intelligence” more than 12 times per minute. Any suggestion or even links that will help me do a preliminary analysis will be helpful. Thanks...

Business objects are not rocket science. A competent developer should be able to figure out how to build a universe in a few days. My first experience took me about two days to figure out how to build a universe and another two days or so to get some analytic reports from it.
