Avoding Unnecessary Updates In Request Update

Question

In our application, many pages contain an “update”, and when we update the table, we update the unnecessary columns, which also do not change. I want to know that there is a way to avoid unnecessary column updates. We use stored procedures in .net 2003. In the following link I found a solution, but it is not for stored procedures.
