How to receive and send text messages on a la Twitter website?

I looked at almost all SMS messages here on SO, and the best answer I've come up with so far is ZeepMobile . The only problem is that they "in beta" and not readily accepting usersno longer work. Is there a workaround for this, perhaps getting email through text (sort of like TwitPic does this?) Somehow parses it?

Basically, all I want to do is get people to text the site so that their messages ... I don’t need to send any messages (in fact, I would rather not do this). Almost the same functionality as Twitter (the same functionality, but no, I am not creating a Twitter-esque service because I'm not crazy).

PS it will be a solution of VB.NET ASP.NET 3.5.

Does anyone have any idea?
