Where should I create temporary files for my application?

Several times I warned some users not to store temporary files in the Temporary Internet Files folder. Where is the best place to store temporary files or log files that my application generates?

It is best to use isolated storage for temporary files, but you can also use GetTempFileName .

The temporary folder of Internet files is different from the TEMP folder. I agree that I do not use the Temporary Internet Files folder - it is intended for another use.

The TEMP folder should be used for files that can be deleted without fear of failure.

However, the TEMP folder has no place for log files or configuration files or anything important. I would create my own folder under the user profile, preferably in the application data or local settings.
